About Dr. Zer Alon

Approach to Therapy: I use an integration of several evidence-based therapeutic approaches with clients.  During the therapy process, I assess the needs of my clients and adjust my approach and interventions to best suit their individual preferences and needs. I am sensitive to issues of diversity, culture, and identity and how they influence people and their concerns.

Clinical Experiences:  I previously worked as a Senior Staff Psychologist at the University of California, Irvine.  Prior to joining the staff at UC Irvine, I was a Staff Psychologist at the Counseling Center at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). These positions have afforded me the unique opportunity to provide individual and group therapy to hundreds of individuals from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of psychological concerns. I also actively participate in the training and supervision of future psychologists.

Education:  I earned a Psy.D. (Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology) and MA (Masters of Art in Counseling Psychology) from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois.  I received a B.A. in History from the University of Texas at Austin. I am a Licensed Psychologist in California.

Clinical Training:  The majority of my clinical training has been at community mental health centers, clinics, and hospitals.  I completed an APA-accredited doctoral internship at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services in Culver City, CA and a specialized postdoctoral fellowship in community mental health at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA.
